Just wait until the then-president pulls a Trudeau (Senior) by declaring martial law to put an end to the separatists.
Better yet, just wait until the then-president pulls a Elensky Special™ and keeps martial law up to remain POTUS indefinitely. I could see either side being driven to do this at this point tbh (to avoid prosecution)
