"start writing a comment and give up halfway through" gang rise up

Honestly, it is also fine to simply... not post. I spent my first year on the site pretty much purely lurking, and even after I started actively posting it mostly consisted of random fluff I found fun or interesting. And I still make way more video/image posts than comments or text posts, precisely because it doesn't involve any writing of text - as soon as I get into that territory, it takes me like half an hour to post something since I have to rewrite every sentence a dozen times.

So, you can try that route, echoing Alaskaball's advice - if it's something you thought was neat, just post it. If even just one other person sees it and thinks "huh, that's neat", then maybe it was worth mentioning.

Both online and irl I'm a commenter, not a poster.

Oh yes. I even have a severe case of signing up anxiety. But now, when Hexbear won't give me "something went wrong" page every ten minutes, i kinda ran out of excuses. So here i am, looking forward to shitposting with you, comrades. Anxiously.

I get irrationally upset when ppl reply to my posts in bad faith so I post a lot less these days lol.

There's been a lot more of that recently, too.

I wonder how much is redditors wandering outside of their pen, and how much is the flamewar promoting active algorithm poisoning everyone's vibes.

Yeah I think the active algorithm plays a significant part, but it also seems like there's a small portion of users that like to seek out conflict. But I think that's just the nature of most internet discourse.

I feel this very much- I've had posting anxiety for so long. There's a chance I may delete this comment. If you're reading this, I didn't, which is a win for me lol

My worries are almost always focused on other people's reactions, and I trip myself up before I even say anything. I get in my own way a lot!

For me personally, it's trusting my own opinions and avoiding the temptation to just keep rereading and editing what I typed until I just delete it and go lurk some more.

Also the internet is fake and you can just say whatever, and that's a GOOD thing

This place is great for posting literally anything you're thinking and not getting judged (unless you stumble on a struggle session topic but those are pretty easy to avoid)

I do the opposite - Reddit trained me that anyone with a contrary opinion is a lib, which was usually true there but definitely not here. Of course, people here are generally much more agreeable anyway so it isn't a big issue.

In the end though, nothing online matters that much so just fire off whatever you feel like castillo-cowboy

The value of a post doesn't matter - some of the greatest posts we've ever had were "valueless" jokes. That's why "shitposting" isn't a negative term.

Personally my favorite posts are when someone posts something dumb I can riff on, like the instapot guy or anything Dirt_Owl does.

for any post or comment that I've ever made, I've drafted at least 10x as many but deleted before posting

I have written so many comments just to delete before posting lmao, although similar to others it's not as bad as reddit-logo
