i don't even know if this is the best brand or we but it's only good when the peppers are pickled not just like dried red pepper flakes like the cheap american brands have.

fuck me, this is the good shit. Just pour this shit on a bowl of plain white rice and it's instantly delicious. I remember coming across one user on here who hadn't heard of this stuff and I felt so sorry for them, this shit is pure flavor in a bottle

"Peter Piper picked a proper pint of pickled peppers" makes so much more sense anyway.

I like to use this with some vegan oyster sauce, soy sauce, gochugang, and furikake to marinate my baked tofu. Such an easy meal, super filling too.

makes a great base for sauces like that! i like about 60/40 thai sauce to soy sauce and then a tablespon or two of lime juice

Flavor is great, but I think its a bit too sweet on its own. I mostly use it as a sauce base, for stuff like orange tofu, or just cutting it with a bit of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

Fuck I need to pick up that brand, bought a cheap bottle that does the job, but isn’t quite as banging as Thai restaurants’

it's strangely hard to find. most stores sell the tiny, overpriced bottle (like walmart). the big bottles should only cost like 4 or 5 dollars max if you can find one at an Asian grocery store.
