The Great Housing Mission of Venezuela, launched in 2011 by Hugo Chavez, is the most ambitious housing project in the country's history. This week, the 4,600,000th house was built, with a goal for 5 million homes by 2024 and beyond. The program has built 1,255 residential complexes on a total of 9,837 hectares, an area equivalent to six times the Swiss city of Geneva.

The program additionally provides social infrastructure like schools, subsidized food markets, and recreational and green spaces. Over 70% of constructions are self-managed by communities, with financial and logistics support from the government. Communities also provide each other with materials - from each according to their supplies, to each according to their needs. Russian, Chinese, and Belarusian companies have helped supply the program over the years.

In Antímano Parish in southwestern Caracas, a group of predominantly women came together in 2015 and trained in construction, cleared land, and then built apartments while under the pressure of food and materials shortages and electricity blackouts due to the United States' sanctions campaign.

Claudia Tisoy, a mother and self-trained plumber, said “This goes beyond building homes for our families, we are also building the future of our country, with women leading the way. This is what the socialist horizon is all about.”VA

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

No! That's just everyday German child rearing. Scandinavian Christmas traditions is that a little gnome with a pointed hat will set your house on fire if you don't bring him offerings of porridge. You also have to display an idol of the horned god in your home and dance around a tree decorated with nationalist and military paraphenalia while singing a song about strangulating children.

          Ukrainians will make fine Scandinavians.

To be clear this puts them at odds with all mainstream Orthodox churches, not just Russian ones? Like "December 25 Christmas" Orthodox Christians are like 1% of all global Orthodox Christians from my brief reading of Wikipedia, is that right?

Imposed by Stalin back in the 4th century when the not-yet-existing Russian ethnicity decided to reject the Gregorian calendar and maintain the Julian feast day and imposed this decision on the equally not-yet-existing Ukrainian homeland.

Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian nationalists are rewriting about 1,700 years of history with this one.

Orthodox means you shouldn't be orthodox about when to celebrate something. Obviously.

Moving Christmas to a date more familiar with Burgerlanders is just the beginning since Orthodox Easter falls on a different date as well. The Burgerization of Ukrainian society is commencing. They've already done that with https://privatization.gov.ua/en/. No self-respecting European would ever use the Yank spelling of English words. Only the most shameless US vassal would do so. The next step would be converting their written language from their current alphabet invented by barbaric Asiatic ruZZian orc Cyril to a Latin alphabet invented by civilized European Romans.

How long until they replace Slavic/Soviet/authoritiarian borsch with western/freedom/Aryan cheezburgers as the national dish?

No, it doesn't really put them at odds with all of them. The majority of Orthodox churches have already switched to December 25th, since most of them have adopted the Revised Julian calendar (made by a Serb scientist in the 20th century as a more accurate alternative to both the Julian and Gregorian calendars). The only churches that still use the old Julian one, for whatever reason, are the Russian, Serbian, Macedonian and Georgian churches and the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which, thanks to the the sheer number of Russian people, are still the majority. So the "December 25 Christmas" Orthodox Christians are not really 1% of all Orthodox Christians, but are still in the minority.

Okay so I think I got mixed up here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Calendarists

I misread and thought that these people rejected the rest of the Orthodox church for using the Julian calendar, but I guess they actually rejected them because they were so mad that some of them used the revised Julian calendar and also fuck, can I say I wasn't expecting to find out that there are actually three calendars at play here and two of them are basically identical but only for 776 and some change more years.

I'm not surprised by that, honestly. It's makes no sense even if you have followed this longer. Splits for seemingly insignificant differences is just the way Christianity works.

Lol orthodox Christians really have a pope specifically for a single holiday?

Nope. This is just a dumbass journalist not knowing shit about the thing he's reporting on. The ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople is not the leader of orthodox Christianity, he can't tell other patriarchs what to do the same way the pope can. He is only head of the Greek orthodox church and considered "first among equals" in meetings between patriarchs.

In Eastern orthodoxy you don't use the term "independent" for churches. The correct term is autocephalous, or "self-headed". Eastern orthodox churches disagree on who can grant autocephaly, the ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople claims that they have the preorgative to grant autocephaly, whereas the patriarch of Moscow claims that autocephaly can only be granted by the patriarchate controlling the province.

The Moscow patriarch had been the heading the orthodox church in Ukraine for centuries but following the illegal and undemocratic dissolution of the Soviet Union a competing Kiev patriarchate was erected. In 2018 the ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople decided to unilaterally grant autocephaly to the Kiev patriarchate, prompting the Moscow patriarchate to break communion with Constantinople. Moscow considers the ecclesiastical hierarchy of the Kiev patriarchate to be schismatic and continues to claim authority over Ukraine.

The Kiev patriarchate had a tough time catching on with clergy and the faithful in Ukraine and AFAIK most congregations were still under the authority of Moscow when the war broke out. However the war rapidly changes this and the combination of nationalist fervor and state repression against clergy of the Moscow patriarchate as well as as confirmation of churches, monasteries and other property has all but eradicated the Moscow patriarchate's presence in Ukraine and given the schismatic Kiev patriarchate de facto control of orthodoxy in all territory controlled by the Kiev government.
