I think this was the first time I've seen a problem with how the site was being managed, so that's a pretty good track record overall.

I think it would be a shame to lose a historically quite good admin over this.

At this point I feel like the admins are actively hostile toward the users here and you're coming off as arrogant and condescending.

I suspect that you're right but I think I'm holding out hope that they aren't gaslighting everyone that badly.

It just occurred to me that it's also super disingenuous to tell people to request a new comm to replace the dredge tank, when you've already made a commitment to people who aren't users of this site not to allow a dredge tank like comm to exist.

The only response I've seen to that image from an admin, is locking the only thread outside of this 1100 comment post where it was being discussed.

If it's real then that picture implies that no such comm would be allowed to be created.

Mods only, users weren't informed there even was a vote until it was complete. Unlike apparently the mods of other Lemmy instances, you know the people running the websites where we get great content like "account #7 with almost the same name who misgenders and vilely insults anyone vocally critical of this admin decision"

Dunk and dredge tanks are locked down by admins, apparently after the mods and admins discussed it amongst themselves without consulting the userbase.

Originally it was because it turns out dunk tanks have a racist origin, but the rules for the replacement comms are that basically one of them is the dunk tank and the other one is the dredge tank but only for effort posts.

When everyone got upset because that obviously defeats the point of the dredge tank the admins posted a list of the reasons they are closing the subs which was basically "It just gets everyone all riled up and saying mean shit about racist assholes is actually just a cishet white guy activity."

This also got a shit ton of pushback obviously and then the OP of this thread turned up with this screenshot which seems to indicate that literally everything the admins have been communicating is horseshit.

Idk, I'm not one of the most prominent posters here or anything but I've been posting on this site for years now and I'm pretty sad to see it take this turn.

I don't know for sure if the claim that has been bandied about their identity is 100% right (I have trouble with seeing the "posting style is the same" type claim, I guess it's like face blindness for textual speech cadence or something) but it's absolutely got to be someone who is a hexbear regular with an axe to grind.

No way some random reactionary would be so onside for the anti roasting faction that apparently exists on this site.

Also tiktok comments kinda suck and directing more hexbears into them might be good.

You're not kidding, half the comments on any recent video about Madeline Pendleton being 100% right about DNC astroturfing on TikTok is "But they deny the lived experience of Yeonmi Park when they say that the average Westerner's beliefs about the DPRK are 90% based on CIA backed south Korean tabloids."

It's also pretty fucked up that this is completely different reasoning than has been provided in the 1k+ comment post where they told us they are doing it because it makes us too grumpy.
