guys, are you seriously expecting him to say "kill the capitalists, up with la revolucion" on television? his show is owned by hbo and at&t, this is the best it gets while working withing these frameworks.
if he keeps you like an inch away from telling you capitalism is the root to all problems in america without outright telling you, you should be able to piece together that that is the solution, if his watchers lack reading comprehension it isnt his fault. it isnt much "avoiding the underlying problem", it's more like looking at a person you are talking about without saying his name.
also yes his humor is pretty childlike and i hate it but i do enjoy some of his bits like being irrationally angry at good things like that city in connecticut
Yes, this is correct. John Oliver is a fucking godsend to the liberal-to-communist pipeline, his show is a fantastic entrypoint to "why capitalism is bad" without scaring people away with the scary C word
All of what you said might be true except that Oliver toes the US state department line on everything outside of the US borders. He is literally married to a neocon vet and agent of the MIC!
I know for a lot of social chauvinists “foreign policy” is just one incorrect stance among dozens of issues, but for most of the world on the receiving end of imperialism it is really the only American issue that matters. American “Foreign Policy” needs to be one of the focal points of the American Left, but they routinely downplay it and put it behind other matters.

I feel like his show is slowly turning into a Cowdy's Showdy with the increasing amount of rage he emits in the last I don't know how many episodes.
