Imo it should have some commentary introducing the quote, then the quote, then the citation. I think the down votes are in part caused by your argument, and in part that the comment could've been crafted better. Personally, don't think I'd have read it if it were a book I hadn't heard of or I'd have down voted straight away if it were a book I had a bad impression of.
