    With Modi I'm sure this was intentional, but I would like to point out that in a number of cultures "1,000 years" is used to refer to a very long period of time in a symbolic way. One example (also fashy) is "Banzai" in Japanese (and I just learned a few other SEA languages, albeit with their own spelling and pronunciation) directly translates to "10,000 years!" and is usually understood to mean an arbitrarily large number.     Edit: Come to think of it English does this too, sometimes referring to old things lasting "for millennia".
