    What if your family tree is nothing but labourers, drivers, miners, factory workers, farmers, chimney sweeps, servants, butchers, weavers, carpenters etc. dating back a thousand years and your surname is some simple Middle English construction like "son of", and even that turns out to be a matronymic?

    That's gotta to count for some honorary non-British points
