why would they end it? It's consistently in the top 3 of patreon. Other projects came and went, but they are up there. Even if you're not feeling the pod anymore, why give that up?
Yeah, no one would give up on a stable project that earns you 6 figures a year for what is generously the hours of a part-time job.
Because they are embarrassed by it and are desperately trying to get a serious job instead of permanently being "the bros who are mean online"

Pundit, radio host on a "proper" radio show, screenwriter, basically anything other than "being funny for losers".
It's not necessarily about the money either. I guarantee you that Will and Felix are constantly embarassed by their family (why do you think Will is so snarky about people like Matt Ygelsias? He's jealous and bitter!), and Virgil clearly has always had higher ambition than just "podcast man". It's basically the same as something like Opie and Anthony or any "edgy" comedy program. It's cool to make a ton of money doing nothing and pissing people off when you're 25-30. When you're pushing 40, you start to worry about shit like your legacy and feel trapped when you're preaching to a bunch of morons instead of being respected by respectable people.
