What is it about "Vote!" that makes it so condescending? Is it the implication that "you should implicitly know who I mean for you to vote for because that's the only Correct choice"? I have such a visceral angry reaction to it that I finally understand that the phrase "seeing red" refers to a physiological response

I think you actually hit on the head why its been bothering me so much. I hate the VOTE! thing because it doesn't even bother to take a side. They don't care that their statement is ambiguous enough to be telling fascists to do their thing. It puts so much inherent trust in the institution of voting that it even goes past the condescending "Vote blue no matter who!" and basically assumes even Republicans voting is good. Everything is good. Everything is normal. Voting will make things normal again.

It is both the deeply serious condescension of "you are not doing enough to end Bad Thing and I am judging you" combined with the downright frivolous assumption that everything can be fixed by Democrats. Having those two fundamentals of unbearable liberalism fused into one word makes it infuriating.

if it makes you feel better, i don't get the same reaction. i think "vote!" is more a sign that biden et all believe in the process, and they know that if the process works then the best candidate will win. and they think they're the best candidate.

I mean from your run of the mill reddit commenter type libs. Responding to "here is some legitimate issue" with "vote!" is just nauseating. The "libs trust the system" explanation makes sense but I can't believe how naive and brainwormed they are about it, it pisses me off so much

yeah i was lib pilled up until this year, leftism is what introduced me to the concept that electroralism doesn't work and change can only happen with revolutions. i think they just literally dont know there's an alternative.
