One of my cousins/aunts, idk how exactly we are related, a few months ago made some post on Facebook about her fathers service in Korea, something about how he didn’t talk about it. Idk the way my parents talked about it was really vague and I couldn’t find it when I looked. Knowing what I know about Korea I suspect it was warcrimes related and beeding around the bush.

Cats that get in your way when you’re doing something are actually mimicking your behavior.

When a cat lays on a keyboard while you’re typing, they think they’re helping :)

This starts out sad, but after the Choctaw nation was forced off their ancestral lands and moved north in the Trail of Tears they heard of the then-ongoing Irish potato famine.

Knowing how starvation feels they took collections and rounded up something like $150 and donated it in solidarity and suport to the Irish people.

The Irish have never forgotten and try to pay back to a nation that gave all they could in lean times, they have college scholarships to this day and even provided some financial relief for covid.

"Two ancient peoples. A modern-day connection. Nothing divides the Choctaw people from the Irish except for the ocean."

That's beautiful and so so sad.

Hmmm, is a hobby, a passion project, something that will necessarily end, opposed to something you really live for as long as you could ? How do we call woodworking for life for pleasure ? An utopia ?

What do you work on ?

Keep at it comrade. Linear progress is an internalization of capitalist order instilled on us since grade school. We're trained to think like good little capitalists, the only way is forward. Success or failure, a false binary choice. People have ups and downs, you'll get yours if you keep at it.

Oh I know. I'm down about 30 pounds since Quarantine started and I'm hoping I can make my goal by Election day. If not, oh well.

Actually I already passed my first goal a while ago. BMI sub 30.

I need to make a phone call in order to schedule a therapy appointment

but the huge amount of anxiety and avoidance I have surrounding things like phone calls is the reason I need therapy

Holy hell, yes. Probably the bane of many therapy seekers in the world. I've heard therapists making reasonable arguments for why the phone is better than e-mail, but i didn't find them to be all that convincing. God, it took me so long to make that call.

Either way, try to see it as the first step in your therapy. It shows you are ready. That the urge to overcome is finally greater than the suffering and anxiety you are experiencing now. And try to focus on the fact that your fear and anxiety is MUCH MUCH worse than the actual experience of the phone call. It only gets easier, it will probably even feel like relief. It's just a conversation between two humans. And most therapist have seen and heard pretty much everything.

I got two years therapy for depression, avoidance behavior and anxiety and it truly changed me for the better. It's not magic, but it's the best we got and i believe you can do it too! :red-fist:

I'm getting drunk on cheap beer, playing ping pong with my neighbors, and I've got a stew cooking in the oven.

Everything might be shit otherwise, I'm unemployed, my welfare will end soon (at least I got some), I'm stressed at, but it's nice rn. So I'll take it. It's all I've got.

    How are you all doing
