    ACAB

Yes even that cop friend or family member you might have, it's about the culture. 2 Types of people become cops, bullies and people who have been bullied. Some people might join with good intentions but in a culture of unquestioning loyalty to their fellow cops and total secrecy about their pasts, people with good intentions either fall in line or the leave the force.

They might be nice to you personally outside of work, but if they had met you in their line of work you would 100% just be another body to them.

I've got a cop aunt, that my family doesn't talk to much. Whenever we drove through her jurisdiction growing up my dad told me that if she pulled us over, we both had to run in different directions pulling off our shirts, like on cops. I'm pretty sure she'd tase my dad, thankfully she never pulled us over.
