Yes please! As a leftist Jew, we so desperately need a place to discuss Judaism without having Zionist Jews calling us names and claiming we're not real Jews.

And do c/Christianity while you're at it.

And do c/Christianity while you’re at it

I'm on here enough that I could probably be a mod for a c/Christianity, i'd feel kind of over my head and not really a great representative, but I could atleast enforce site rules, I guess. :cat-trans:

I don't think any of that is true, actually. I don't even jive with limiting yourself to enforcing rules.

I'm reminded of a passage from Leslie Feinberg's Trans Liberation:

So who will lead our movements today? Recently, many in the trans communities have been discussing “What makes a leader?” We’ve grown up in a society that places much more value on some human lives than on others, where a few are considered shepherds and the rest sheep. We have been taught that we have no power to change the most miserable conditions of our lives. But that’s a lie.

Everyone in this room is a leader. Each of us is needed as an organizer, as an activist in the decisive struggles that lie ahead.

There’s a wonderful Chinese proverb that advises “The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.” The people who are making history today are the organizers, the activists, those who are building coalitions, distributing leaflets, making calls, sending out e-mail, mobilizing others out of their despair and into motion. The leaders are the ones who are “doing it.” And the responsibility and role of leadership is to develop leadership in others.

I will literally dig into what little freetime I have left to hold the hand and help develop leadership in anyone who wants it, haha. I believe that everyone has the potential to be a leader, whether they acknowledge it or not; I certainly didn't think so when I first started but I think I turned out pretty alright thanks to the great people on the mod and admin team that I was able to learn from.

If you're interested then I highly encourage you to pursue this; you have nothing to lose but personal growth. If it doesn't feel like a good fit for you after a bit, you can step down and I'll help find a replacement for you. However, I see you around pretty often with solid takes and I think the community could benefit from a fresh voice. I'm going to DM you, but I just wanted to leave this motivational comment for anyone else who wants to moderate too but is maybe concerned about their ability to be a good community leader.

And also a place where we won't get called Zionists by leftists 😡

I've honestly never had a leftist call my a Zionist just because I said I was Jewish. But if that's happening that's really shitty.

I have or otherwise seen it implied about Jews in general. For example there was this thread on here a couple of days ago: https://hexbear.net/post/53201

Thankfully it got removed eventually, but it had like net 7 upvotes when I first commented on it and 28 upvotes in total before it got removed.

I could give it a try. I already failed once modding c/menby, but this one is more personal to me.

Eh. You didn't fail. You're still the mod of menby. It's never too late to be the great leader we all know you could be, friend. And I'd be happy to DM about possible ways to invigorate c/menby. :)

Do you have any community ideas? I'm an Atheist, but I'd absolutely participate in educational events, lol.

That's okay! I appreciate your community ideas at the very least! Keep your ears peeled for anyone who might be interested in modding it and I'll do some searching of my own! :)
