I was told in New Jersey it's a three tier sandwich with rye bread, the top tier is Russian dressing and roast beef, the bottom tier is turkey or ham and cole slaw.

          Caramelize onions, toss in some aji amarillo powder and garlic, cook 30 secs to a minute until fragrant, throw in soy chorizo, frozen bell peppers, and a can of petite diced tomatoes, reduce until the water is gone, serve on a nice brioche with cheddar cheese and hot sauce and/or BBQ.

          So good.

          Nah, what's great about a sloppy joe is you can fit a shitton of uncooked off alcohol in them, and you'll get drunk as you eat. It's great. You can't do that with some fancy french dish.
