I visited the Hermitage a few years ago and wandering around from the bigger throne hall to the smaller throne hall I was like .......yea no I can see why they did it.
Btw the "virtual visit" feature for the Hermitage is amazing. You can see they put a lot of work into it, even translating a lot of the little placards they have up. They also have a special tour for the Revolution of 1917 exhibit that they made for the centennial.
