You know some of these people going "how could they give it a 9 or a 10?" are the same people that attacked and harassed anyone that gave it a score lower than a 9 before it came out lol

Just a thought, maybe some reviewers aren't fans of getting death threats for giving unreleased games a "horrible" 7/10 score, so they just spike the score slightly in order to avoid that.

There are bad reviewers, of course, but honestly, I can't say for sure I would be an impartial reviewer if I knew I could get doxxed and harrased for giving something a 7/10 -- I'd just give it an 8 and be done with it.

Sure dude, but you can't really tell people how to react to death threats and dox attacks, might not bother you (even tho you probably never had thousands of people threaten and harras you, so you can't be 100% sure), but they might bother other people.

I personally am unbothered by online bullying and stuff like that, I can tune it all out, I really don't care what someone calls me online. But we've all seen people kill themselves, harm themselves, or just in general be affected horribly by cyberbullying and shit like that, so it's really dumb to just dismiss it like "oh it's just neckbeards, who cares."

I think the volume of attacks makes a big impact too. It's easier to brush away one asshole saying something nasty to you, but if you're getting 50 messages an hour threatening you or trying to goad you into self harm, it can get extremely fucking taxing. And if you happen to be in a comment section where those people are ganging up on you it can feel really overwhelming.

Plus, these things aren't always just empty threats. Even if they're not literally going to murder you, they can still try to ruin your life by contacting friends/employers, trying to find something incriminating from your past, etc. It's hard to imagine that that kind of shit wouldn't be stressful.

And yes, if you're an "enemy" of g*mers or have been labelled an "SJW" you can absolutely get this level of harassment. There are whole fucking sites dedicated to this kind of shit. I won't name them, but they're out there.
