I usually get a new piercing (or tattoo when I can afford it) this time of year, but because of covid travel restrictions, it'll have to wait. Not complaining, just a bit bummed I won't make my annual daytrip with some friends to [nearby big city] and get stabbed. Anyone else put their body mod plans on-hold for 2020?

Probably related: I'm thinking about stretching my ears bigger. They're 16mm right now, but I'm thinking I'd be happier with them closer to 19-20mm...

I really like tattoos but I have this bizarre mental block where I'm so scared I'll regret getting it if it's not just perfect that I can't bring myself to pull the trigger. It's dumb and I know it'll look cool but I just can't push past it for some reason.

Piercings on the other hand, super fun, got a few different ear spots, one for the septum, threw around the idea of getting a few more personal 👀 ones but Idk if that's me.

definitely go for the personal ones if you like them. i have quite a few piercings and my favorites are all hidden from plain sight 👍

Hehehe maybe I will. Once covid is over I'll look into a place that can get it done and see how I feel about it.

I kind of like how intimate they can be. Like, a close friend or lover is holding you while gently and caringly hurting you over and over.

      Love my hand pokes.

hell yeah, being able to feel magnetic fields sounds rad af honestly

second puberty = unironically braver than the troops o7 i have a friend who has to black market her hrt, but it made her feel a lot better about it to think about it like body mod - much more empowering mental state.

i'm buzzing my head so i really really want to pierce my ear and use something like this , it's so small but to me it makes a huge difference for people with very short hairstyles

i say that because i've shopped some to check, and it really surprised me how different i looked, it gave off an entirely different vibe

never had an idea for a tattoo nor have i thought it would add much to my appearance tbh

I feel the same way - every piercing adds something unique! And just bc others might think it's a small add, if it makes a big difference to you, then you should 100% go for it!

    raises hand in ignorance

What's the difference in terminology between body modifications and general plastic surgery and/or gender reassignment surgery? Do they all fall under the same umbrella?

I guess in the sense of a well-intentioned yokel: "Ah, you're post-op? Fan-fucking-tastic! I have some body mods, too!" proceeds to show off finger magnets and permanent eyeliner

Have a few ear piercings and a shit ton of tattoos. Love the whole process of getting tattoos. The shops, the art, having to sit through it. It's great.

saaaaame, it's such a nice way to spend an afternoon: lying in a tattoo parlor, talking shit with cool people, looking at all the art on the walls, enjoying the endorphin rush. trying to save up money for a chest piece atm, but it'll be a while.
