I'm very worried this forum will dry up and die without some advertising on the users part but I don't know how to tell people about this site without sounding like a giant dork
Agreed, this is the biggest threat we face. I'd say people with lots of twitter followers for example could share links to here for example, or maybe posting on reddit a link to here saying casually "oh yes this topic has been discussed a lot here [link to chapo.chat]"
I am not sure, people do have the community associated with the "brand" chapo, but why not simply have lib.rehab directly redirect to chapo.chat? Or hexbear.com

We need some good discussion first. If I wasn't so smooth brain I'd start up some discussions.
I think federation will help. Right now being here requires signing up explicitly which is a barrier for many.
