I honestly thought nothing was gonna happen, but I think they're gonna do it. It's the most lib thing possible: removing a president two weeks before he leaves anyways and claiming they saved democracy. The round of applause they'll give themselves will be insufferable.

Trump may be gone but his base is not going anywhere. Expect more bombings, rallys and shootings, sadly.

Getting rid of Trump is honestly probably key to winning 2024. No one will beat him in the primaries, yet anyone but Trump will have a pretty easy time winning against Biden. Trump's the only guy who might not.

Not just within the realm of electoralism, but in general. These people are armed and ideologically ready to fuck shit up, as we saw today. They don't need an election to start attacking bystanders.

There must be a Democratic primary in 2024, or they are going to lose handily.

Plenty of shitlib Republicans. Romney and McCain were both horrible candidates and would have been clubbed like seals by your standard Clintonian Democrat - even one that wasn't black.

His base will be waiting and will latch onto the next bat shit crazy far right figure that emerges. Trump is just the beginning. Somewhere out there, there's someone much worse than him sitting down and vowing not to make the same stupid ass mistakes he has made.

Good point but I don't think this decaying empire is capable of producing someone like that anymore. We're culturally and ideologically down so bad, the privileged class couldn't even mount an argument grand enough to justify what happened today outside of vague ideas of liberty and freedom, not to mention all the #SaveTheChildren pizzagate detached from reality stuff. We've drunk too much of our koolaid. The people who invented this reality are long dead and the only people left are those who believe it. Some Machiavellian type who can seize the moment and capitalize on them is unlikely because, who? From where? Hitler was at least somewhat prominent before he was brought into power.

I say it a lot but Trump really is Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler realizing he has nothing left but his fans. He loves rallies, he'll be doing them forever.

I don’t think it’s going to happen BUT if it does it will be very funny that what it took was lawmaker’s physical safety - nothing to do with the safety of their actual constituents that they supposedly represent - being threatened.

I thought Georgia voters would be dumb as shit and split the ticket to make those knuckleheads in Congress have to compromise =) and that the Capitol police would mostly cooperate with the Trumpsters, but not to the extent of just walking in the building. Posting my political prediction Ls this week online.

Joe Manchin is a pro-Trump Democrat. Now they'll just have to compromise with him instead of Mitch McConnell. Some difference, but not much.

Having a Democrat as the senate majority leader will make a ton of procedural things go way easier. Unfortunately for us, the democrats are evil too, so that won’t do us much good.

It would be useful - if someone is impeached and convicted they are barred from running for office again. You can impeach after the term is over for this reason.

That would prevent trump from running in 2024.

This is also probably why they won’t do anything.

Yeah. It would had to have been initiated tonight and jammed through when the blood is still hot. I don’t even know if that’s legally possible.

There's one thing more lib than an empty gesture: talking about doing an empty gesture and then not doing it.

Yeah I think so too. He’s just too unstable for the capital class, and they don’t want to take a chance of him winning again in 2024. Today was the last straw. It’s not about getting rid of him now, it’s about preventing him from running again in 4 years

They will claim the nation is healing, and now it is time for unity and reaching across the aisle.

It's not so much the two weeks early as it is the ban against running again.
