The Netherlands is a great example of this. While there are some genuine efforts, there is still a fuck ton of racism here. Black Pete support has dropped precipitously over the past few years, and now a lot of people seem to realize that it’s racist as fuck, but that in turn means the reactionaries have held onto it even harder.

Even your average lib here can rattle off all kinds of facts about US police brutality but have no idea about the police violence and racism here.

And although one of the fascist parties has imploded, the other has released their manifesto for the upcoming election, which includes kicking out all Syrian refugees and cracking down on Islam throughout the country.

I’m really worried that with the increased flow of refugees due to Western-caused climate change and conflict, the fascist parties are going to get more support as they play off people’s fears. Our only “left” party, the Socialist Party, which are just socdems, just purged all the communists out of the party. So there’s really no alternative to liberal and far-right politics.

Q has also gotten really popular here. That’s worrying.

On the plus side, there’s a new party this election that is explicitly anti-racist, anti-neo-colonialist, and somewhat anti-capitalist. But it’s still electoralism.
