I'm so tired of living in a world where everything is such horrible bullshit no matter where you look and the general consensus is that while we can put people on other planets we just can't find a better way to distribute food or healthcare ya know

I have always wondered: once you are there as a indentured worker, what do they do if you just refuse to work until your debt is cancelled?

Ship you back? I am sure there won't be infrastructure for that in place for a long time.

Keep you in prison? They likely also won't have resources for that.

Kill you? If you are there they likely need your job and with literally everything at a premium, there's unlikely to be a replacement for you easily available and flying one over would take months or years. A single person might be replaceable by different people, but if a bunch of people do this at the same time, that stops being true very quickly.

You have an interesting level of power as a worker on another planet.

Yea, because it's really hard to send radio waves through space. We have yet to figure it out.

Here is the thing: I never said a thing about rebellion. I just said that, once you are there and refuse to work, they will cave to your demands, because they stand to lose so much more then you. All I said you could do is have your debt forgiven, which I stand by as realistic.

As for radio waves: Pretty sure that's the DSN network, a international government organization? I kinda doubt that news of an actual rebellion on Mars would be covered up by them, just because Elon Musk asked. And I also fully expect Musk to not build his own set of dishes, ebcuase why would he?

I guess my hate for Musk burns brightly enough that I would hate everyone there anyway if they aren't along for this as well.

And wait: Why would musk subcontract with Nasa? Then it's not his base? And who is indentured in this new scenario? The soldiers shot up there? This makes no sense to me at all. Clearly the idea Musk has is to do a private colony that he runs directly.
