Bidens executive order directs the Office of Personnel Management to develop recommendations to increase the minimum wage for federal employees to $15 per hour.

    This is just an executive order though so I wouldn’t panic yet. I’m not an expert, but the president doesn’t have the power to make that kind of change (15 minimum wage across the board), outside of the executive branch agencies, which is what he is doing now through the order.

    Congress is the one who needs to pass a bill including the minimum wage across the board. Biden released a proposal including the mimimum wage increase - he was basically asking congress to do that. We’ll see if they actually do or if they negotiate themselves out of it.
