i think he's a great example of what happens when you give any ground to people who have no understanding (or just distaste) of working class finances
He's a great example of a social democrat a.k.a capitalists who want to give small concessions to douse revolutionary spirit. He is part of the system, not working outside of it. He is not giving any ground, he is working exactly as he wants to.
that's another possibility, but i lean toward people like bernie telling themselves they're doing the best they can. functionally no different, of course
