I don't know if it's because we're so trapped in the "dunk" model of communication, or because Marx himself was both correct and an absolutely tiresome asshole, or because we're so small we're worried we'll damage ourselves and/or the left by admitting we're wrong, but it's almost pathological.
Not admitting fault is a powerful tool on the right, but it doesn't work on the left.
