The jazeera journalist asks him how come you don't build tunnels for Palestinian civilians and he deflected it into 75% of Gaza are refugees, it's the UN's job to protect them and also Israel according to the Geneva convention (which is true an occupier still has duties) . My fucking God. r/worldnews went nuts with titles like "Hamas says not it's job to protect civilians" "Hamas leader says tunnels for militants only".

I think he doesn't understand the Western narrative that they put children in line of fire on purpose, and are otherwise living normal lives in a singapore-like country that attacks Israel for no reason / because they just hate the jews.

Qatar is an ally of Hamas for god's sake and it owns al jazeera, how do you bomb an interview with them? What a dumb mfer. I can't believe these guys are the last significant armed faction and Pals are stuck with them.

yeah this is just a stupid argument from westerners grasping at any reason to vilify hamas

also the guy should have responded that that would be using the civilians as human shields, the thing zionists constantly claim

He should've just said that. So many obvious answers and this guy goes with "not our job really". lol Zionists immediately came to gloat about it on r/Palestine

Well he literally could've just said THAT, instead he chose to be a moron and sound like they, the governing body of Gaza, couldn't give 2 fucks about civilian life.

My issue is how easy it was to make this interview at least "unremarkable" or ignorable by Zionist bias media, because usually they ignore Hamas explaining themselves at all. Instead he does this and now it goes to indirectly confirm the human shields bullshit.

My impression is that there was a recent split/schism/purge within Hamas. Obviously, the people who held on to power within Hamas are too busy trying to win a war than give interviews to Al Jazeera. This dude is apparently not even in Palestine. Honestly, it calls into question the loyalty of these Hamas splitters such as this, who was the former head of Hamas until he got pushed out/kicked out/purged.

It's an uphill battle no matter what he says because the mainstream Western narrative isn't based in reality, so even if he had said the perfect answer it would be spun into something else or disregarded entirely like Biden denying death toll reports

One of the easiest answers to this question is that the IDF detects and intentionally targets tunnels, making them about as safe for refugees to use as it would be to house them in a military base.

He literally could've just said THAT which is the **obvious ** than hand the Zionist propaganda machine this one. They're already milking it. It's all over the place.

For fuck's sake, Israel has bombs that penetrate 30 meters into the ground he could've just said that too.

because they want to be seen as a legitimate resistance movement rather than terrorists presumably, and they want to delegitimize the Israeli narrative on the world scene.

western journalists can twist any claim to mean anything they want, there's nothing wrong with what he said

I recognize that seen as facts only it's true. Gaza is a concentration camp surviving on aid so it's true it's the UN's job to look after the refugees and also true that Israel has duties towards them as an occupier but said in this particular way in response to this particular question makes it sound like they're unconcerned with human life

Normally Western media ignores what Hamas has to say about allegations against it but this time they talk all over about this interview because its such propaganda fuel.
