  • This has been the Dems MO since Reagan won in '84.

They only win because of backlash against the obviously horrible policies of Republicans, and I am predicting that (if America still has elections 4 years from now) that if the Dems keep moving right we will be in a constant back and forth of a disastrously bad Republican messing everything up, so any Dem can swoop in and win, but after the Democrats 4 years of maintaining the disastrous Republican Party, the collective memories of Americans will forget who put them in this bad situation to begin with and vote for a Republican.

Until the Democrats finally admit that there is not enough moderates in this country to maintain electoral power, and begin wooing the left in actually meaningful ways, will they have a chance at the regaining the power they had in the FDR era.

  • When Ronald Reagan won in the 80's I knew I could never even smile at a leftist or else Democrats would never win the presidential election ever again

Actually that battle has been pretty easy, it pretending that I agree with leftist on anything is the hard bit. Grinds my gears that I have to have them vote for me, while also not offering anything they want to vote for, just things they want to vote against.

  • The entire second paragraph is literally just the same old realization that time is a wheel that moves ever forward crushing and turning to dust all that humankind has ever or will ever achieve.

I guess when your idea of an ideal past is sometime in the last 20 years, because you're like 30, and only have context for that time, there is only childish and horny to choose from to reinforce your beliefs that the past was better.
