  • “Just go outside and organize your community” is something that someone who never goes outside would say. The truth is that most communities outside of the internet are deeply reactionary.

    My point isn’t that the general populace is somehow less reactionary than Vaush. My point here is that, en masse, social media in general and these political brands that it develops in particular create a strong bias towards not organizing. Acting like these things are a giant deal is a big part of the problem, which I think you agree with if I’m understanding you.

    But I don’t understand what the quoted bit there means. Like, it’s too difficult so no one who’s tried it would encourage it? Organizing is boring, thankless, and rarely productive long-term. It’s also our only tool and it needs to be done.

















  • The idea that you can’t just look and guess is apparently too inconvenient. Imagine fully expecting to being able to guess a stranger’s name and getting mad when you get it wrong. And yeah, a lot of them do do it on purpose. I feel like you can tell when people do it by accident
