I think with something like “for all intensive purposes” the mistake is indicative of a larger problem though, like if that's the mistake you're making then it's a sign of general thoughtlessness. To expand on that last point, one of the less-gross libertarians might say that capitalism is great because it maximizes personal liberty, and then I might say "no, that's ridiculous, it's completely destructive to personal liberty, and is therefore bad." My conclusion is right, but is there any way to prove the intermediate statement, "capitalism is destructive to personal liberty," to someone who doesn't already accept the conclusion?
