This is has been a ugly one. Easily the worst since VCJ. And what's worse is that it could have easily been avoided with the benefit of hindsight

Listen, I'm going to have to take some time to think about the bulk of the arguments made here, but I want to say:

-I'm glad we (finally) got much fuller and better articulated version of the reasoning behind some of the changes.

-As one of the persons who was baying for the blood of whoever wrote that portion of the mod statement, and who definitely felt hurt by it, I'm glad you stepped up and wrote this. It's no small thing to own up to a mistake like that to a bunch of very angry people.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I accept your apology.

I have what is hopefully my last thought on this. I think there should be a steering committee of people on major website decisions and I think that group should included interested posters in good standing who apply, and not exclusively mods/admins. It could be a standing body or one convened specifically for major decisions. I think there are a lot of people who don't necessarily have the time or temperament to be mods but who could provide meaningful input and it would help break down the opposition between the mods (evil, cabal) and the posters (beautiful, pure, light itself).

This place is not a place of honor ... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.
