damn, i'm so very sorry you had to go through that. i can't even imagine how scary that must have been. :Care-Comrade: you should be very proud you've become a better person than you were raised to be and breaking the cycle of abuse. i respect that quite a bit.

i'm wary of dogs i don't know too well even though i've never been attacked too bad before. they also almost universally seem to not like me at first so there's that too.
the pure breed fixation society seems to have is weird as fuck and probably telling of how people view the concept of race. at the same time i don't really judge people who only get pure-breed dogs (even if they are inhumane like pugs) too harshly because it's something that's very normalized and seen as a status symbol. i feel like that's changing quickly though, hopefully i'm right.

the problem with trucking afaik is that often times drivers are expected to deliver cargo in an unreasonably low amount of time, leading into them having to skip on sleep and driving in dangerous conditions. though the pay seems to be pretty good from a working class perspective.

hurt my hand a couple of weeks back and it completely fucked my daily routine and sleep schedule. really need to fix shit before the semester is over, especially since i might need to find a job before the next semester starts. feeling a bit overwhelmed, but i know that as long as i stay alive it'll pass.

yeah, it's fine not to like dogs, especially if you've never lived with any they can seem very intimidating. spending your free time asserting how much you don't like dogs with your fellow dog-hating friends is absolutely insane though. why would you spend so much time complaining about something instead of talking about and interacting with things that give you joy?
i guess some of that sub has unresolved trauma with dogs and this is a way of coping, but it's still so weird looking from the outside.

i can kind of understand the childfree people because there's social pressure to have kids and have a "normal" life path (even though i think the sub in general is weird) but the dog free and pet free subs are just so weird. like, this is very much a non-issue. pets aren't that ubiquitous and i live in one of the countries with the most pets worldwide lol

    damn that's crazy
that sounds super alien to me. i guess i don't have an inner monologue some of the time even though i'm thinking, but every time i'm interacting with something i definitely have the inner monologue going on.

Sorry, I hadn't checked this comm in a bit. Just like Trump supporters, Bolsonaro supporters seem to have their minds shielded from reality by years of imperial and reactionary propaganda. They rightly feel that politicians don't have the people's best interest at heart, but due to the state of the communist movement they are presented no other option in the mainstream other than fascism. Thus, they support Bolsonaro as a negation of politics itself in a childish, counterproductive lash at the ruling class and the political establishment - well, that's what they think it is, in truth we know that the two groups I mentioned are fonder of Bolsonaro than a left-liberal like Lula.
Some of these people aren't completely lost, they know something is wrong with bourgeois democracy, but since only fascism has reached them, that's the answer they go with.

Right now it looks like the Worker's Party is set to win the next election, though it's too early to tell. Even if he lost, bolsonarismo has become a major force in Brazilian electoral politics and the main antagonist to labor, surpassing Macron-type neoliberals. Even if Lula wins it doesn't look like he'll be able to form a government coalition in congress, but I'd say that the revolutionary left is outpacing the fascists in growth (they have stagnated/began to shrink imo) and if it's able to keep it up and use its growing numbers effectively Brazil could see something special happen in the long-term, provided fascism doesn't take over till them.

Also, if you have any questions or want to know more about Brazil don't be shy, I'd be more than happy to help you.

    :this:
even if China's population stagnates or even starts decreasing they have a very long way to go before they their economic development ceiling, whereas the US has pretty much hit its ceiling with a neoliberal economic model. a lot of the current labor force in China isn't as educated as they could be (something that's changing with Gen Z) so they could increase their productivity by quite a bit. if they stay on a Marxist path they would also be able to educate more thoroughly and more people than economies which revolves around profit.
