Damn, this really puts into perspective how successful China was at containing the epidemic and how hard USA shit the bed. The USA (and the rest of the world) had like four months to prepare.

Brazil and India did very bad as well, I wonder what these three countries have in common. :thonk:

I've noticed that very few news sites reporting on coronavirus ever publish per capita infection numbers because that makes the USA look even worse than it already does. Don't get me wrong, India is really bad right now, but if you take today's number of cases and divide by the total population, it's less than twice as bad as the USA.

    401993 / 1.366 billion = 0.00029428477

    58382 / 328.2 million = 0.00017788543

If you look at the total number of cases:

    19.2 million / 1.366 billion = 0.01405563689

    32.4 million / 328 million = 0.0987804878

India still has a lot of catching up to do. The USA has had almost ten times has many coronavirus cases as India per capita!

One of my favorite things to do, of course, is to do the same thing with the communist dictatorship which goes against human nature and is a total failure, Venezuela:

    1297 / 28.52 million = 0.00004547685 (today's number of cases)

Venezuela's numbers, if you look at daily infections, total infections, daily deaths, total deaths, etc., are way better than the USA as a whole as well as any US state. If you throw these numbers at liberals, they get super angry and say that Venezuela is lying, whereupon you hit them with Cuba's numbers, Vietnam's numbers, etc. (I am far from a math or numbers guy but no one has challenged my math skills yet in these matters.) Corporate media doesn't ever say "Vietnam bad" because the MIC is still trying to court Vietnam in an alliance against China (and failing miserably of course). Liberals don't really know what to do when you say "Vietnam good" because they have not been programmed to discuss Vietnam, which defeated Japan, France, the USA, the CIA-backed Khmer Rouge, and has now (fingers crossed) defeated coronavirus as well. They might say "Vietnam isn't socialist," whereupon you say "okay, let's do Vietamese capitalism here," whereupon they say: "no, that's socialism!"

god that is so true that liberals have to reboot their mind software when you hit them with a country the state department hasn't conditioned them on yet. their historical knowledge is usually pretty lacking outside of the US so you can outmaneuvere them pretty good on that stuff.

I'm anticipating another wave in the US as things quickly return to normal but a significant % of people haven't gotten the vaxx, maybe that's because the couldn't or because the refused it.

I think the summer will be good covid wise but then the holidays will be a surge.
