God, really explains so many upper class people. Just walking around all the time thinking houses in fucking Brooklyn cost 90k and that the average worker makes $28 an hr or something. Thinking "why can't these people get their shit together".

Very curious where in NYC these mayoral candidates live and what both their backgrounds are? Who's got this info?

Edit: oh for christs sake, one of these dudes was HUD SECRETARY under obama, and ownes a 2.3 mil house in brooklyn

No joke, before the minimum wage hike discourse became a thing under the Biden admin my dad straight up thought the minimum wage was close to $20.

You should have seen the look on his face when I showed him on the internet that it's $7.25 an hour here in the states. He literally said "people can't live on that" yeah dad, they can't, welcome to 2021.

Are their brains stuck in 1959? Do they just not pay for things on their own and have their assistants do literally everything for them?

A house? For $100k? I don't think they cost that much even in Montana.

I'm sure this is meant to show how out of touch they are with the working class, but actually it shows how out of touch they are with the landlord class. Landlords know exactly what property costs, it's one of their favorite topics.

I normally overlook it when politicians don't know the price of bread or milk because even I, a minimum wage drone, don't instinctively know how much they are - my excuse is adhd.
But fuck, even if you were guessing based solely on being a conscious human being that's remotely connected to society in any way shape or form, you'd have to throw up an estimate of about $1m.
how can you be this wrong not on purpose
