I'm just guessing but could it be Italians driving cars registered in San Marino because the taxes are lower there than in Italy?

Finnish people also have tons of guns, and I think we're also the most religious Nordic country (though they're all largely atheist/agnostic)

smh we're the Americans of the North

Also apparently there was a survey supposed to detect unconscious racism against black people and I remember Finland was the most racist in North Europe so yeah it does sound like America.

Maybe since outside of Reykjavik it's very rural? If you live in the city you maybe have a car maybe not. If you live in the country on a farm you have 5.

this is true, except it's more like everyone has a car, the PMC people in Reykjavík have at least two and rural people have cars too.

most of the urban infrastructure is built up after the second world war. So it's made for cars.

The cancer of neoliberalism took root after the collapse of the Soviet Union and made things worse. The current city officials are socdems though and they are trying to make things better.

The boomers are mad about it of course.

every year they talk about the feasibility of having a train from the airport to Reykjavík. Maybe in 2050 or something.

Made me think of the sultan with 7000 cars, he alone has a small impact on that number with Brunei's 433k population

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_collection_of_the_29th_Sultan_of_Brunei

Edit: That's 0.016 cars extra per person

      Malta is ~316 km2

should be ~384k total cars according to shown table and 2019 population number (~502k )

Worth pointing out it's the 4th most densely populated sovereign entity

someone who doesn't have a splitting headache can do the rest of the math to figure out how many cars per square kilometer that is

Most people don't use their cars to drive very long distances most of the time.

Edit: also yeah there are probably lots of cars to rent for tourists.

"America isn't dense enough to support a rail system"

Countries with the highest car count per capita

    • San Marino
    • Monaco
    • New Zealand
    • Iceland

    Countries with the lowest count

    • Indonesia
    • India
    • Afghanistan
    • China
    • Iran
    • Argentina

Beginning to think that rational is bullshit
