Amen. I want to see a world that works, even if that means I never see another shallow luxury again.

I'm a marxist-Leninist because I really, really don't trust communities to make good decisions right after the revolution.

"think of the children!" They shout as they take away life saving vaccines for diseases that primarily kill children

Disgraced lying fraudster ex-doctor Mr. Andrew Wakefield, and his paid for deliberately fabricated retracted paper, has been a disaster for humanity.

so, if you have health insurance, even a shitty plan, immunizations are covered 100% and usually immunization related tests are as well. I think it's due to something in the ACA about minimum coverage requirements. they're probably cheap even if you aren't insured. something to look into.

I learned several years ago that immunization fade over time and that "titre" testing can be done easily with typical blood panel tests to see what antibodies/immunities are still active (I was in my late 30s).

historically it hasn't been a big deal because of herd immunity protected us from like rubella outbreaks, but with all the anti-vax bullshit, I was like "fuck that".

so I got the test done. my primary care person was happy to do it. I think all the vaccine hesitancy has the effect of them just not bringing vaccines up unless you ask. I learned that I had lost my mumps immunization and needed one of the hepatitis ones. and there's no copays for those so I was just like "roll up these sleeves and fuck me up with whatever I can get"

god only knows how fucked things are going to get with the ongoing dumpster fire of public health infrastructure in the US, so anything you can do to not get or give communicable diseases to others is good.

Literally undoing as much of the progress humanity has made over the past century as fast as they possibly can.

I'm imagining myself getting a megaphone and reading the Roald Dahl letter on corners like some kind of street preacher. I don't even live in Florida, but I do live in a red state, so I'm sure the madness is heading my way.
