I must have missed the announcement, but this has to be a large joke right? The amount of shit that will get people killed on here is just constantly being repeated, telling small women how to train to fight off multiple opponents with their fists, people recommending carrying tactical tomahawks, others suggesting to just keep beating people after they are unconscious.

Its like somebody just brought a voice recorder to a literal mall ninja shop and turned it into a text transcript for reddit.

When was in my early twenties I had an older friend who always concealed carried for self defense. One day he was mugged at knife point and he just handed over his wallet, I asked him why he didn't pull out his gun. He told me one of the first rules of having a gun is to never point it at something you aren't prepared to kill, and he was never going to kill a person over a few hundred bucks. That really stuck with me and changed how I thought about self defense. If someone is trying to hurt me I'll defend myself but there is nothing I own worth killing a person over.

Another thing to consider in a situation like that is the risk of escalation. Sure your friend has a gun, but what says the mugger doesn't also have a gun and isn't quicker with it?
