So after spending hours scrolling twitter I decided to degrade even further and installed TikTok. I used it for like 50 minutes and it just keeps showing me cute girls dancing to obnoxious music. Also most of the videos are in Russian despite me turning every profile setting to English in a desperate attempt to get away from my people.
When will I get the content for sophisticated adults such as myself? Where are cute girls preaching bizarre political ideologies? Where are baby witches that cursed the moon I used to hear so much about?
Am I supposed to somehow find accounts to follow or will the algorithm figure out the dark depths of my soul once I watch enough videos? Is TikTok just a young man's game?
Edit: Maybe people can also share some good channels (?) so I can jumpstart the algorithm...

Press and hold the video till the options to save, favourite etc come up. Press the “not interested” option. Do this enough times and tiktok will learn you don’t want to watch videos in

You can wait for tiktok to do it on its own (which it will, eventually) or you can jumpstart the process by searching for specific tags (communism, eboys, witchtok, depression) then scrolling through the videos, liking the ones you like, commenting on some, following certain creators etc.
Edit - Be prepared to lose hours of your life everyday to that hellhole.
yeah it was showing me absolute trash until I followed one guy (part thirst, and part because I like content)
then it got me into queer commie tiktok QUICK. The algorythm is pretty powerful if you prime it a little.
I'm a young whippersnapper and I don't get it either. Half of the videos are just people putting their face in front of a meme and pretending to laugh
As an even older person it reminds me of Vine, which is basically just a platform for short video clips you can consume quickly.
I like watching videos of people work. Some good videos of people walking off the job or showing poor conditions. Idk and cat videos
Most content is higher effort than that (but not by much), but the fact that your low effort content generally comes with your face attached makes it far better than twitter, not to mention that scrolling to the next video is free

Yeah, you gotta give the algorithm some data. There's good stuff, I get absolutely nothing like teen dance videos.
All I know is slop. At least they added some texture and sugar to this slop to give it the hint of oatmeal.
I started by finding some leftish youtube compilations and followed some creators I saw there. It is basically useless if you don't like your For You page, but the algorithm is pretty good once you get it a bit trained.
