I can’t speak for rural America but this has been my experience in the suburbs, except they constantly performatively shit on unions despite seeking union jobs. They rationalize it by claiming they deserve the benefits because they are one of the few people that actually work hard and everyone else is just a lazy moocher, especially if they’re a member of a marginalized group. But! They’re not racist or homophobic or anything because they have a token coworker who is very polite and well-spoken and nods along when they say that George Floyd was a tragedy but BLM is just too violent and extreme, so how dare anyone say they are a bigot?

The people who are more easily reached are the completely unaffiliated who only know they hate their job. They outnumber politically minded people like 3 to 1.
Is a hammer personal or private property? It's certainly a means of production, if you are a skilled craftsman you can use that to make yourself wealthier than others, so it's "private" property. But then you can't put up some bloody shelves without submitting a requisition form to get the rusty PoS communal hammer in 6 months.

However, an economy not captured by the government and the people who buy politicians means that you are also free to leave and there will be a maximal competition for your labor.

as we know, the demand for labor is solely determined by government regulation, not by any real economic conditions or cycles.

there are way, way more workers than there are capitalists, so the advantage is in the capitalist's favor. They have hundreds of workers to choose from at any moment. I can only choose like 4 or 5 different businesses to work for because I'm limited by where I live, what my qualifications are, and what I wanna do with my life. Capitalist just needs to wave a paycheck in the air and people line up.
