At my elementary and middle school you'd get sent down to the office if you didn't have your hand over your heart as you said it.

In high school they made you stand up for it and were so pissed they couldn't force us to say it anymore lmao

Are you suggesting that students shouldn't swear unyielding loyalty to the glorious USA?

Lmao got to love Americans obsessing over another country when theirs is the biggest genociding and exploitative country in the world.

This is the most pathetic shit, honestly. China continuing to grow economically and working to better the lives of its citizens and Americans screaming "Xinnie the Pooh" as the country comes apart at the seams.

we are a beached whale of a country, only able to look back at the sea we came from and reminisce on the "good times" to forget about our problems as we rapidly suffocate.

100% no one in America would have heard about this meme if John Oliver hadn't promoted it.

It's been about 3 years since I've listened to a word John Oliver said.

Your post made me look up his video about China, and I lasted about 4 minutes.

      Thanks, I guess

I always apply 1984 to these situations just to try to increase CHUD cognitive dissonance. "Oh, we have the two minute hate at the beginning of class today?"

I like to remind people that Orwell wasn't just taking a swing at Stalin, he was also taking a swing at the BBC based on his time working for the intelligence establishment.

As a fan of both Pooh and Xi, I really really really hate this shit. Whenever I see "Xinnie the Pooh" comments I seriously want to reach through my computer screen and violently beat someone within an inch of their life if front of their loved ones.

Pisses me off too. But I try to remind myself that even if they manage to piss someone off with the "Xinnie the Pooh" meme, that's... literally all they have. It has no material impact, and won't affect China in any meaningful way.

I still hope birds shit in their mouths though.

The Winnie the Pooh thing was kinda funny when it first came out but now I just roll my eyes. Redditors have no originality.

tfw your politics are so safe and boring that your teachers/professors and government agrees with it 100% but somehow you're a rebel and will literally be censored for it
