My favorite theory is that it was a hungover secret service agent who accidentally shot kennedy with his gun.
Kennedy had taken all of his security detail out partying with him the night before. At best, some of them had stayed sober, but were exhausted.
Oswald tried for a shot, failed, and the secret service agent panicked and shot Kennedy in the head. It’s so perfectly stupid and incompetent that it makes sense.
This was my favorite theory as well but after listening to all of JFK 101 I'm pretty convinced the CIA did it and Jack Ruby was probably the second shooter.
There was a variation on this floating around that the Secret Service guys had just switched over to a new type of rifle, and this was their first major detail while using them. One of the agents was fumbling with the safety when he accidentally shot Kennedy.
