Dude seems to have - intentionally or not - embraced the Trump playbook. And I have no doubt that Trump would endorse him.

He can't, fortunately. He was not born on US Soil

neither was McCain, the line has retreated to "you just have to have been born a citizen"

Your parents must apply for citizenship within six months of birth for jus sanguinus citizenship in the US. Cruz’s parents did not meet the deadline.

Nah, it's that he was born to American parents. The requirement is citizenship on birth, not place of birth, and the US has both jus soli and jus sanguinis citizenship.

It was always that, most people just didn't understand there was a difference.

But thankfully he was not born a citizen at all, so we're safe barring a constitutional amendment.

Edit: shit, or retroactively giving him birth citizenship because his Canadian maternal grandfather was born in America. No idea if said grandfather actually got registered as a citizen or passed it to his mother or if that's even a thing that can be done, but it might be enough for him to get it if he really wants.

Can he though, since he was born in South Africa? Not that they wouldn't be above changing the rules for him, I'd imagine.

Dunno, everything I've heard about Trump seems to indicate that he was completely intoxicated by the level of support he'd garnered by the time he left office, and he understood fully that there were chuds who were willing to lay their lives on the line for him. He's holding the Republicans hostage right now by not declaring that he's running for 2024 because he's openly coordinating with special interest groups in order to raise funding, which wouldn't be legal if he had already declared.

Whoever is opposing Trump in 2024 is going to be in for a bad time. I don't think Musk has enough of a cult to counteract Trump's ego and base

How about this - Trump run with Musk as vice-president. Please, someone take away the lathe from me.

It'd be funny. Outcomes aside from entertainment value are pretty much outside of electoral control anyway.

Is he a eligible? I know his family is from South Africa, was he born there or here?

Either way, he's make an excellent Trump, they've got a similar persona of "rich guy famous for being rich so rubes think he must be brilliant"

Counterlathe: This allows all noncitizens to run for president, Jeremy Corbyn is introduced to the American people as a new Bernie, and wins in a landslide.

Nope. He won't want the ban Trump got and he probably saw how Trump just ended up being the deep state's bitch in terms of policy. He's not gonna run.

He's gunning for some kind of ruler of Earth and Space type of thing, president is chump change to him. I'm only half kidding about believing this.

He'd probably do it as a Republican and I don't even know how that would work. Chuds think he eats babies. Conservative boomers don't like him. Washington insiders don't like him. His fans are weird neoliberal nerds.

If Trump's presidency worked as a money machine for him, Musk will DEFINITELY need it.

he has enough sycophants that he might do reasonably well, but i think he understands his own scams better than Trump did. he's on that grind of draining investors' balls to fund new projects that he has no intention of completing. running for president would be a tacit admission that his business ventures were grifts.
