Aww damn, he missed. The national debt is a made up number used to justify austerity, don’t bring it up unless you’re mocking its existence

You're right but it also serves to mock the enormous amount of money the US wastes on the military, though that is better done directly and by contrasting it to the amount used on welfare and other social services.

The national debt is a made up number used to justify austerity,

I mean, its a real number in so far as there really are Treasury bonds outstanding to the numerical effect.

And if you want to talk about sustainable monetary policy, you kinda need to address things like debt load and cash flow to actually operate the machine of government.

Like, it's a stupid archaic backwards system. But its still the system we've got. If you just stop getting paid, insisting "it's just a number" doesn't satisfy any of your creditors.

I don't know if he gives a fuck about that, but a shitload of Americans genuinely think its important. So using it to dunk on liberals either right or left might actually work. Hell, Libs do it all the time when they argue online.

      lol no

"national debt is a made up number" is a meme made up by libs so they don't have to do anything. The best way to fix the debt is to raise taxes, and libs of course are completely incapable of that notion, so they have no choice but to do the only thing they can, gaslight everyone into pretending the problem doesn't exist and america is already great
