hopefully Cuba and China will remain on top of the varients with their vaccines.

Really short sighted of the Americans as China providing vaccines to the third world is a great opportunity for them to make inroads into the US empire. This is the empire fraying at the frontier

I'm pretty sure when it comes to third world countries China is not so much "making inroads" as maintaining their already built high capacity highways, while the US is treating their "roads" like they treat... US roads. Wow, this road thing can do a lot of heavy lifting.

I really, truly thought that Biden would at least be better than Trump on covid. I didn’t expect him to actually do what was necessary to solve it, but I expected him to do some things a little bit. Instead he’s managed to actually be worse than Trump, and undo the few good things that happened under Trump.

This fucking sucks. I hate this so much. I genuinely might cry today this is so fucking frustrating.

This is horrifying. Especially considering no one besides me was wearing a mask at the staff wide meeting today

Damn. First time I went out after the mask mandate was dropped where I am, maybe 1 in 10 was still wearing masks. Today it was a little better, maybe 1 in 8. I felt fine with the surgical masks when everyone was wearing masks but now its n95 or don't go out.

The place I work is especially bad, but in public I'd say it's about the same as you

Are they discouraging people from wearing masks or are people deciding on their own? I've never been more scared of covid. At least when they updated case counts per region you had an idea of how bad it was but now all they do is say how many hospitalizations and deaths, which lag behind by weeks! :scared:

will need to limit its push to help poorer countries vaccinate

China has delivered 1.4 billions vaccines abroad, mostly to the global south.

The US has delivered about 500 million abroad.

It sounds like that gap will only grow larger.

      delivered about 500 million abroad

What's the catch? E.g. how many of these vaccines are sales to other global north countries, how does it weigh against the impact of vaccine hoarding/apartheid and refusing to waive patent rights etc
