Sorry, not sorry, not going to care about Ukraine because I grew up with an intimidating, militarily and economically abusive NATO in constant state of distress, anxiety and worry about the future. Hearing the US weapons arriving in the neighbouring countries every year was my own "Ukraine" for almost 20 years.
It's a bit of a tortured metaphor, it's easier to just point out the many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many times the US had "no right to intervene" in the sovereignty of another nation but we did anyway.
At first I thought this was a dunk tank post because I saw it as a liberal metaphor. The emojis didn't help.

Ukraine had only a very small military pre-2014. They had almost nothing which is why Azov and a dozen other nazi volunteer battalions were relied upon for the civil war in Donbas.

Also because the civil war was driven by the coup and unpopular with the people. The Ukrainians had a huge problem with recruitment and then with suicides, desertions, and side-switching before they brought in the mercenaries.
A more apt and less triggering metaphor is walking through the target with an AR-15 slung over your shoulder.
