My buddy got kicked out of a book club once for calling Rosa Luxemburg "Rosa".

The person who got offended was like "WELL YOU DONT CALL MARX 'KARL' DO YOU??"

Okay well maybe we're just lazy as fuck and want to save syllables, not sexist

I do call him Karl. I always refer to him as grandpa Karl with my friends. Just like I cal Lenin Mah boi Lenny, or Stalin Joey. People just go out of their way to find shit to complain about, as if life isnt hard enough.

We all literally refer to Che by his nickname, and guys like Lenin are pseudonyms. We dont get yelled at for saying Tito, instead of Broz

I mean.. I feel more kind hearted parasocial connection to Marx as a weird dysfunctional raccoon man who would need to be reminded to eat and you'd probably have to pay for his drinks most of the time but you know his heart's in the right place.

And I think of Rosa as more of a war leader who balances being a hard ass with humanist motivations and has to run the gauntlet of being taken seriously as a woman in a very prominent and important role.

Of the two of them Marx us the uwu manic pixie dream socialist.
