I thought she was dead or retired or something. I mean I'm not surprised she's still being renewed with the lifeblood of the poor, just that the seal written in dried blood anchoring her demonic spirit to this plane hasn't been smudged, or otherwise subject to enough mishap or entropy to unravel the spell yet. Surely even the darkest pacts of immortality cannot be entirely certain in this turgid world, restlessly carved by water and wind?
