LA is ridiculous they built a European style city in the middle of a ludicrously hot swamp and wonder why it's too hot when they're using buildings designed for France, New York and the UK
yeah I guess building a city on the wetlands fucked up the water cycle. Also I had a science teacher talk about how California fucked up their clean water supply by drilling for oil
I don't know much about it but I know that for example the reason that Dubai is so hot as to be unlivable without major air conditoning is that it was built to the European style and not to the more traditional and sensible ways of building a city in the desert.
The heat of the place should have been accounted for when they built it
concrete is also really stupid in hot places

LA as in Los Angeles not Louisiana.
New Orleans is too damn hot though, true.
It's also Lower Alabama, in case we want to exile bad artists to the worst of all possible L.A.s.
LA was built on wetlands though
really? that seems so unbelievable given how dry Southern California is.

water that now has to be pumped from the Colorado River, which is now historically low and depleting...
damn we really fucked up some of the best land on earth.
Part of the reason it's so dried out is because they paved over the marsh so water doesn't collect in the soil, it runs out to the ocean.
make sense, thanks for the explanation
How does heat affect architecture and urban design? Sounds like an interesting topic
