The Dollop is one of my go-tos. It does have a political position, but it's a mix of shocking and inspiring stories from American* history that usually are less known, with a balance of narration and comedic acting/riffs.
Typically I'm doing something in addition to listening so I'm not in "listen to a podcast like a lecture" mode. The slower pace means I don't miss anything if my attention fluctuates a little.
I second The Dollop, aside from TrashFuture it’s probably my favorite there is. I especially recommend episodes 323 - 1908 New York to Paris Car Race, or 101 - The Death of George Washington as good ones to start out with.
