I was just thankful I wouldn’t ever need to sit through a sequel with these boring-incarnate characters.

no, just a prequel tv show

Prequels, man. Why can’t these franchises set anything in the future of previous instalments?

:doomer: Yeah but then we just get shit like ancient alien Indiana Jones featuring Shia LeBeuf

Tbf, Berserk did that with Guts being angry murderman and then having a prequel arc showing how he became angry muderman, and it's considered iconic (though the initial arc is obviously pretty weak)

You ever read a Greek Tragedy? Knowing the outcome has no bearing on enjoyment. Past that, the characters all emote well enough and have motivations. Maybe the lines sound goofy to you, but that's star wars baby

Romeo and Juliet starts with a narration saying "these kids gonna die" and it's one of the most popular and enjoyed plays in history. You might not like it, but it is not a bad way to tell a story.

that doesn't tell you anything about whether it would be better the first time if you didn't know

Yes, but you're whinging because the story wasn't told in a way you like. Telling the ending is an ancient story telling device, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad. It can build dramatic irony, because you know Oedipus is sleeping with his mom, that Romeo will die, that Troy will fall, but the characters don't. The stories are built around that. Sure, you may not like it, but it is a fine and good storytelling device.

True, but my point here was that "you know the ending of the film" isn't a legitimate complaint. You can still think the writings trash, but this isn't a legitimate argument.
