You ever read a Greek Tragedy? Knowing the outcome has no bearing on enjoyment. Past that, the characters all emote well enough and have motivations. Maybe the lines sound goofy to you, but that's star wars baby

Yes, but you're whinging because the story wasn't told in a way you like. Telling the ending is an ancient story telling device, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad. It can build dramatic irony, because you know Oedipus is sleeping with his mom, that Romeo will die, that Troy will fall, but the characters don't. The stories are built around that. Sure, you may not like it, but it is a fine and good storytelling device.

worse isn't the same as bad. enjoying something less than you could have doesn't mean not enjoying it at all. I mostly liked rogue one, especially next to the JJ ones, but the prequelness takes a lot away from it and while I like gary whitta, it's a worse story than the books that disney pissed on and rian johnson burned in effigy.
giving up tension for no value is a bold move and I can't remember the last time it paid off. maybe better Call Saul will manage it, but i'm waiting for it to conclude before watching the last few seasons.

Rey wasn't the greatest character in a lot of ways, the movies did suck, but not for the reasons chuds mald over.
Rogue One was literally for the chuds, they wanted to see Darth Vader smash a dude with the force like a video game, and they got that.

Yeah Rogue One was a good spinoff. It looked beyond the larger-than-life characters of the main trilogies, and made the world feel more alive, rather than just a space opera.
It can be criticised for not expanding the scope of the universe, but that wasn’t really its goal. Its purpose was to deepen the scope that we already have.
In a sense it was the most down-to-Earth of all the movies. It showed the sheer amount of unseen sacrifice driving the
Viet CongRebels.
I kinda enjoyed Rogue One, it helps that I watch those kinda movies with my young nephews so I can shut off my brain and just ride the vibes.

I used to be a fan of space wars but recently I realized it's just aspects I liked; the stories themselves are unimpressive.
i liked the chill but snarky robot in Rogue One. the "did you know that wasn't me?" scene cracked me up.

the rogue one bot was a fighting robot and fatalist, which is my favorite humor. also, he like died for the mission and it made me weepy because i experience robots as more emotionally relatable than most fictional characters. remember that story-within-a-story of that little robot in Season 3 of Fargo. shit fucked me up. oh, Gloria Burgle/Minsky, I am undone!
